I would like to use the Nanomachines ethicality interview pages 434-439.
Nixon impeachment issue:
Context:
He mentions that at the time Nixon was under investigation.
He also mentions that this was not just a private speech, but that it was to be televised to the entire nation.
He gives us the setting telling us that Nixon was republican while most of the Senate was Democrat.
4th:
In context, the fact that she was the first African-American from the south to ever serve in Congress could have played a major role in the way she delivered her speech. Such a feat gives you a certain amount of credibility, and people would have been willing to listen to her.
Text:
He notices that she establishes her Ethos by making herself out to be a concerned citizen.
He emphasizes the point that she uses words that will accuse the president not only in their meaning, but just in the way they are used. Words that we do not "want to hear describing the actions of [our] president".
He then points out that Jordan then made it seem as though the Constitution itself was under attack, which she knew would be something important to the American people.
4th:
She keeps her paragraphs short and to the point, which in spoken form would add to the delivery. she cites her examples, backs them up, and then moves on. She comes back to the really important ones near the end, and repeats over and over her most important point: That what the president did was unconstitutional.
